New salesforce standard State and Country Fields

Has anyone used the new county and state fields in salesforce?  I can't be the first customer to do so.  These repleace the text fields in salesforce with a Dependent Pick list for country and state.  This is great becasue it make every address field in salesforce a pick list.  However this standard field is not synching to Marketo.  Its like the sync is broken, but I can't change it becasue they are standard fields so no way for me to update.  Any Advice from somone who has used this?
