New email builder - dark mode not keeping styling

Hi Everyone! I have set up a template using the new email builder. I made sure it looks good in both light mode and dark mode. However, when we use that template to create an actual email asset, the dark mode does not keep the styling that we originally dictated once we paste in new content. Sometimes I can paste in content and dark mode displays as I’ve set it to, but sometimes I paste in content and it just completely messes up dark mode. I have tried copying/pasting directly from the Excel file with the content. I’ve tried copying and selecting “paste and match style” to keep the style of the Marketo text box I’m pasting into. I’ve also tried copying/pasting into Sublime to strip the formatting, then copying/pasting from Sublime into Marketo. None of these processes made a difference. Dark mode always displays incorrectly.

 

We shouldn’t have to (and it’s not sustainable to) re-style the dark mode for every single email. If there is a text block that’s already been styled in both light and dark mode in the email template, that styling should carry through even if we paste in new content.

    One of the key features of the new email builder is to lock down the templates for business users.  Not everyone is a designer and its critical to be able to scale usage of the platform whenever possible so that companies do not need specialists to do basic tasks such as enter copy into an email.  If we have a template that clearly clear set styling that shouldn’t get overwritten when text is pasted into the editor.  


    As a Marketo customer and user of the application the "expected behavior" of is that when pasting content into a pre-styled template that it keeps the styling as defined in the template.

      Hi ​@rachelkay, I think theme or a fragment will work in that case.If we define dark model styling at theme or fragment level then everytime, it will come when we add the same at our email.

      Hi ​@Disha_Goyal6 ! We have defined the dark mode styling at the theme level and it’s not consistently carrying over after we paste in new copy.
