Multiple Purchases/Accessing Lead Purchase History

Hi folks-

We're currently using an appending string field to track our purchases, however some leads will have a lot of purchases over a year - longer than the current 3000 character limit for the appending string field. How do you track multiple purchases for one lead over time (longer than a year)? --We need to be able to pull folks in a smart list that have purchased each product.

You really need to use a true one-to-many setup past a certain point. You can use a Marketo custom object (which costs $) but maybe could get away with using something like Munchkin synthetic clicks on /purchase/productN. Those are always one-to-many (like any web activities). The disadvantage is they are not directly viewable as a lead attribute, but they are reportable.
