Multiple Marketo instances

Hi Community!  We're preparing to combine 2 Marketo instances - both will sync to a single SFDC instance.  Looking for feedback from those of you who've gone through this, approaches you've taken, pros/cons, things to be cautious about, and any other advice you may have.  Thanks in advance!

There are a few questions to answer:
  1. are you selecting one of the existing instances as the primary survivor?
  2. are both currently synced to an SFDC?
  3. will you need to migrate programs to one of the instances? (you can do this by asking Support to link your admins and account strings, then you'll be able to import)
  4. will fields in SFDC and Marketo need to change to accommodate processes or data needs from the merger?
  5. have you thought about modifying your lifecycle system?
  6. what data do you want to keep from the deprecated Marketo? Marketo may be able to help push the data directly into the survivor instead of exporting or updating SFDC first.
  7. what's the plan for deduping?

Thanks for your comments, Josh. We likely will have one primary 'survivor' and yes, each are synced to a SFDC instance currently.  The lifecycle program will need to be modified to fit our model. Deduping is of particular concern and how best to retain history.  Any other thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.
