Missing CNAME in Landing Page Domain.

I'm getting this error when setting up the landing page domain: Missing CNAME in Landing Page Domain. We've already completed the setup of having the landing page URL redirect to [AccountString].mktoweb.com, so I'm not sure if I'm still missing something.

What is the landing page domain in question?

Did you set the new name in your Admin landing page settings?

Check out this tool: http://mxtoolbox.com/NetworkTools.aspx

It will help identify your CNAME errors.

Thanks!

I queried the domain on the DNS lookup, and saw that the TTL is 4 hours. I read in the other thread that the TTL has something to do with the issues I'm receiving. What does this imply? Thanks.

TTL will have no meaning at this point if you made the change days ago.  Plenty of time for everyone on the planet to be getting your current record.

Can you please tell us what the landing page domain is? There's no reason to keep it a secret..

Since I am having the same problem as the original poster, I thought I would add to this discussion instead of starting a new one. My IT team already created the CNAME record (pointing:  go.sensus.com  --> sensus.mktoweb.com ). This was done last Thursday, so I know it is not likely to be a TTL problem. To verify, typing 'http://go.sensus.com' in your web browser does in fact take you to a Marketo login page.

However, when I try to set up the Landing Page domain name in Admin > Landing Pages, it will not accept go.sensus.com as a valid domain name. Is there some setup step that I am missing?

Thanks in advance for any help or guidance on this one!

@Tim S In fact http://go.sensus.com does not take me to a Marketo login page because that CNAME doesn't exist in the public DNS.

Perhaps your IT team created the record on the wrong nameserver (an internal nameserver that isn't actually an authoritative NS for your domain as the public sees it).

P.S. TTL never matters for new records.  If a record has never been accessed before it will be immediately available everywhere as soon as it is created.

Thanks for the quick feedback! I'll follow up and see what I find, and then post the resolution/details here...
