Merge Lead API Query

I was going through the 'Merge Lead' Rest API documentation using the following link:

I have not understood importance/use of 'mergeinCRM' API parameter while merging leads.

Could you please let me know about the same.

    Hi Deepali,

    When you merge 2 leads in Marketo, these 2 leads may be also 2 separate entries (leads or contacts) in the CRM. The purpose of this parameter is to have Marketo also try to merge these 2 entries in the CRM.

    One of the specifics of setting this parameter to true is that if the merge attempt in CRM fails the whole merge will fail also in Marketo and the 2 leads will remain separated.
