Merge ideas and consolidate votes

Duplicate, or very similar, ideas get created all the time. This causes two problems. People vote for one or the other making it less clear to Marketo just how much we need that functionality. Then, once someone realizes there are two ideas, they try to direct people to pool their votes. There should be an option to flag an idea for merging so that a Marketo administrator can decide whether or not to merge or link the ideas. If so, the comments and votes would be merged as well.

Note that one of the commenters in an idea below suggests this, but it's not a main idea so the Marketo community can't vote.

Duplicate or very similar ideas:

Unfortunately, this capability is not yet available on the new community platform (like it was on the prior platform).  According to Scott K. Wilder, this is something they hope to be able to do in the future.  I do believe Jive has the capability - it must be due to the way the Marketo community is set up.

Thanks Dan, I'm glad to learn it's not a limitation of Jive. That means there's hope for future changes.

Hi Jessica,

I couldn't agree more on this idea. Dan thanks for responding!

We do wish we had this capability, but it is not available yet on our platform. We have an idea into Jive, and hope that it is solved soon as this is challenging for us.

The workaround that we have currently is to mark any idea that is not the parent idea as 'duplicate' so you can't vote on it (this is on purpose) and then we should link to the master idea in the comments,so people know where to vote. This is, as you said, to make sure people's votes for one particular idea are consolidated best we can at this point.

Thanks for your idea.

Liz
