Hi @Vikas_jaiswal , @gsr-2 , @bhanu_tomer , @jasmin-3@wwidmerjr !

Thank you for joining! I'm so excited to start this journey together. We will primarily focus on preparing for the Marketo Expert exam, but I hope we can also solve real-life use cases. My first Marketo implementation was in 2010 and learned there are many creative ways of setting up Marketo programs.

During this 1st week let's review Module 1 of the Adobe Marketo Engage Business Practitioner Expert Prep Guide. (login required)*. This should take about 1-2 hours. I will post a quiz on Thursday afternoon (Eastern US time) for you to challenge your knowledge and we can discuss it in the thread.

If you have any questions while reviewing the content, please post here (and tag me!)

See you soon,

Liz

*(A colleague pointed out that in the module, there is a broken link to the SFDC Sync. We believe the correct link is https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/marketo/using/product-docs/crm-sync/salesforce-sync/understanding-the-salesforce-sync)

Quiz, Week 3

Question 1: When setting up a lead lifecycle program, what should a marketer do to ensure leads are scored accurately before they are passed to sales?

  1. A) Assign +50 points to all new leads who have at least an email address.
  2. B) Only score leads based on demographic information.
  3. C) Utilize both demographic and behavioral scoring to qualify leads.
  4. D) Avoid using lead scoring and rely solely on sales intuition.

Question 2: A prospect with the email address john.smith@acme.com is a duplicate record in Marketo, and exists both as a lead and a contact in the CRM. The marketing department sends john.smith@acme.com lead an offer for 25% off from his next purchase. The prospect unsubscribes from the email. A week later, the sales rep assigned to the john.smith@acme.com contact wanted to send him a personalized email via MSI offering 50% off his next purchase. What will happen?

  1. A) The sales rep's email will not be sent, because if the unsubscribe flag is set from false to true, the master email status is updated, and the change is propagated to other records with the same email address.
  2. B) The sales rep's email will be sent since the lead record will be converted and merged into the contact record.
  3. C) The sales rep's email will be sent since it was the lead record that has unsubscribed, and the sales rep is emailing the contact record that has not unsubscribed.
  4. D) The sales rep's email will not be sent, since Marketo cannot send emails to duplicate records.

Question 3: A marketer wants to send an email where an image is different based on the recipient's Industry and with a generic image if the Industry is blank or unknown. What best practice should the marketer follow?

  1. A) Backfill the database first to make sure Industry values are populated. Create an email, make the image module dynamic, select the Industry field, and choose the image for each Industry.
  2. B) Create a segmentation for the Industry. Create an email, make the image module dynamic, select the Industry segmentation, choose the image for each Industry segment, and the generic image for the Default segment.
  3. C) Create an email for each Industry and a generic version. In the Send Email flow step, use the Choices based on the person's Industry.
  4. D) Create a smart list for each Industry and one for blank/unknown. Create an email, make the image module dynamic, select the images for each industry, and assign the correct smart list.

Question 4: True or False? Admins can create a custom tab and customize the layout in the Person Detail Page so marketers can access the information important to them.

  1. A) True.
  2. B) False.

Hi @lizme @vikas_jaiswal @bhanu_tomer

Iam setting up email automation for renewal Reminder campaign for 30 days, 60 days and 90 days.

I have calculated field in SFDC with name #number of days due for renewal on Opportunity. So setting up a smart campaign accordingly ànd scheduled 3 recurrence campaigns for 30/60/90 everyday and if anyone qualified they will get renewal reminder email.

The problem iam facing is SFDC calculated field # Number of Days Before Renewal Date value only syncs back to Marketo if there is a change to the record on that day. Change in formula field value alone is not a change in edit record so its not syncing daily.

Any suggestions how to make it correct so value change of  # Number of Days Before Renewal Date will sync back to Marketo daily.

Thanks,

Satish Reddy

@gsr-2

If you have access to SFDC admin, I think probably the easiest way (albeit maybe not the most elegant):

1. On the SFDC side: create 3 custom date fields on the Opportunity that are date type (NOT calculated!) for Renewal Date 90 Days Before, Renewal Date 60 Days Before, Renewal Date 30 Days Before
2. Create a workflow that updates these date fields when the opportunity closes
3. In Marketo create 3 recurring batch smart campaigns: Renewal Reminder 90 days before, Renewal Reminder 60 days before, Renewal Reminder 30 days before:
  •  Smart List: Has Opportunity true, constraint: Renewal Date 90 Days Before / Renewal Date 60 Days Before / Renewal Date 30 Days Before, operator: in future 24 hours  (also, make sure to use constraints that indicate the opportunity has not been already renewed)
  • Flow: Send Email
  • Recurrence: run daily
  • Schedule: Each person can run through flow once every 90 / 60 / 30 days
