Member of Engagement Program Filter

Hi,

I currently have several engagement programs running where a person who fills out a specific form on our website will be entered into a specific engagement program and receive a specific series of emails over time.

If the same person happens to fill out more than one form, I'd like to exclude them from entering any additional engagement programs and only receive emails from the first one. What is the correct smart list filter logic to use for each program?

For the filter above, is this saying that the lead will be included in this engagement program if they are not a member of any other engagement program?

or

Should I use this and list all of the other active engagement programs other than this one?

I would interpret the first filter to mean they are not a member of ANY engagement programs at all.

If your intent is to find someone that is not a member of any engagement programs except one, try combining two filters:

  • member of engagement program is true, program is xyz
  • member of engagement program is false, program is not xyz

Meaning, the person is not (condition false) member of any program that is not xyz, and person is (condition true) member of program xyz.

I think this'll work but please test to be certain.

    Hi Justin,

    Thanks for your comments, but that doesn't seem to be working. Let's try an example.

    1. A lead fills out Form A on landing page A and is entered into Engagement Program A (EPA)

    2. The same lead fills out Form B on landing page B and is entered into Engagement Program B (EPB)

    3. The same lead fills out Form C on landing page C and is entered into Engagement Program C (EPC)

    What I'd like to do is prevent #2 and #3 from happening.

    So in my Smart List for EPA, I'd have:

    Fills out Form

    Form Name is Form A

    Then

    Member of Engagement Program

    Member of Engagement Program: ???

    Program: ???

    Why not just a filter on all your entry smart campaigns triggered by the form fill out that says "Member of Engagement Program: False, Is Any"

    The first time they pass through one of these campaigns they won't be members of any engagement program and it will work.

    The next similar campaign they qualify for, it will exclude them as they are already members of a program.

    Side note, this all assumes that just putting them into the first program they happen to qualify for is the best way to go. If you have multiple engagement programs (presumably for different products or solutions?) it can be helpful to implement some logic based on interest score or something else that will proactively determine the best program for them and place them accordingly. However this may not be relevant in your scenario.
