Marketo SFDC - Duplicate Issue

Hi,

 

We have observed an issue and this is mainly focused on the data sync between Marketo and SFDC. T

To share the insights - "if a lead exists in Marketo and syncs over to SFDC, and then SFDC converts the lead to a Contact.

Currently, there is a duplicate record gets created in Marketo with the same email address from the SFDC end."

 

1. Lead A gets created in Marketo 

2. Lead A syncs over to SFDC

3. SFDC -> Lead gets converted to a Contact

4. Lead B gets created in Marketo with same email address of Lead A

 

Can someone help me to understand the working of this or how we can resolve this issue?

This is something that won't happen and isn't expected with the native sync. Do you have any workflow in SFDC (or maybe a campaign in Marketo with a webhook call) that's creating a purposeful duplicate lead record in SFDC when an existing lead record gets converted to a contact record?

Or denying the Marketo API user access to the converted lead.
