Making a field mandatory on the second time through

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way to make a field, let's say country, appear as non-mandatory on the first form fill, but on the second visit the field becomes mandatory?

I'm guessing no, and I've looked at progressive profiling, but it doesn't really do what i'm looking for in the above.

I haven't tried this, but I think you could use two different forms to accomplish this - simply create two forms, make the country field mandatory on the second one and display that form if the user has filled out the first.
