Mail Delivery Errors not logged under activity for the lead

The e-mail address we use to send out e-mails frequently gets bounce-backs saying "Mail Delivery Error; the address X does not exist on this server" but when I look up the lead, the activity log just shows that the message was "delivered".

Shouldn't this be logged as a bounce or soft-bounce, and then after a few bounces the lead is blocked from receiving further messages?  Does it take longer than an hour or two for Marketo to recognize a bounce?  I don't want to blanket delete all leads from certain high-bounce domain names, but if Marketo is not aware of this sort of bounce I don't see another way other than manually tweaking each of a couple hundred lead records.   Ideas?

thanks!

Perhaps Autumn can shed some light on that. It could be a timing issue.

I often don't check these reports until 2-3 days afterwards because it takes time for everyone to receive and look at their emails. It could be that Marketo needs some time too, although it shouldn't.

It's been 48 hours, and there is still no indication that the e-mail bounced for the lead, even though the bounced e-mail message was returned to us a few moments after the message was sent. Besides the lead activity and the campaign results tab, is there somewhere else I can look for evidence that Marketo is aware of the bounce?
