Question

Links in Engagement emails are not working

Hi all,

So we finally have our streams set up properly (I think) but for some reason the links in the emails are not working. I keep getting a 404 error. I tested the emails individually, using Send a Sample, and the links work perfectly. Any thoughts on why the link would work when sent as normal email and then not work when sent as part of an engagment program?

Nothing special with the links or the emails - they are fairly basic straight forward emails with hyperlinks.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - Jenn

It is unlikely the HTTP 404 error is directly related to Engagement Programs, either as cause or consequence.

Confirming the CNAME is valid would be the first troubleshooting step.
Open Admin - Landing Pages and copy the base URL (such as pages.company.com), then point your browser to http://xnnd.com, scroll down to "other dns lookup", select cname from the dropdown and paste the URL.

A response such as "company.com has no CNAME record" would clarify the HTTP 404.

Thanks for your respose. I checked and the CNAME is registered. Any other thoughts on what is going on here?

Does any link contain URL parameters? It may happen to have something link http://company.com?campaign=test1. Depends how the URL is being built - directly ot tokens - it can happen to result in two question marks on a single URL. Adding a hash sign at the end would mitigate that.

An odd interation with Engagement Programs can not be totally rule out. Is it feasible to share the intended link and the actual one raising HTTP 404? It is ok if you do not want to share for any reason. Opening a Support Case would ensure the details remain private.

I may post any further notes tomorrow (it is almost 10:00 PM in Europe).
