link link in dynamic email

We have a dynamic email that we send to our prospects that is built based on the country and will keep the corresponding links for each country and region. I am seeing a person click a link in this email that wouldn't be served to them based on the region/dynamic rules. Could this be something of a bot clicking links that aren't truly visible to the person? I have checked the email a bunch, and I am not seeing any link reference to this link on the email that they were dynamically sent.

The only reason I ask about bots is because the activity of this person was on every link, which makes me feel as if a bot was going through and checking everything and stumbled upon a link that shouldn't of shown

That’s likely true, but the bot isn’t making the link appear in the email. It’s either in the email or not when it’s sent, you prob’ly didn’t catch a hard-coded non-dynamic link somewhere in the HTML.

Let's see if I understand this:

 

You send an email to person in Italy, and your dynamic content served them a specific Italian link. And now you see that this person actually clicked a Spanish link which is not supposed to be in the Italian email?

 

If that is your scenario, I would say no, there are no bots in play here. I'd rather say there is something wrong with either your segmentation or your dynamic email. How exactly did you create that dynamic content? Snippet/Segmentation or Velocity?

    Correct, this would be an accurate scenario, but they received all other Italian links. The dynamic content is built on the segmentations of regions/countries. This 1 link doesn't show in any builds/testing when looking into the specific region or default they could possibly get. The only reason I ask about bots is because the activity of this person was on every link, which makes me feel as if a bot was going through and checking everything and stumbled upon a link that shouldn't of shown

    That’s likely true, but the bot isn’t making the link appear in the email. It’s either in the email or not when it’s sent, you prob’ly didn’t catch a hard-coded non-dynamic link somewhere in the HTML.
