Link functions in preview but not in email viewer

I have a link attached to an image in an email. When I preivew the email in Marketo, I can click on the link and get to the page with no problems.

When I send a test email or send the actual email through a campaign, the link changes. Marketo ads a string of code to the end of the link (which is for tracking I imagine) but this causes the website that hosts the page to give me a "page has been moved error". I can garuntee the page stayed in the same place, plus the link funcitons fine in the preview window.

I've encountered that problem before, good thinking to test all the links before sending the real thing!

There is a way to remove the tracking "decoration" that is automatically appended to the end of the link: https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000KyqC&src=

I'll look into that. Does that stop Marketo from registering the click? I don't want to loose the tracking functionality, I just want the link to work.

Unforunately, it does loose the tracking functionality.

From the article:
This also disables cookie identification for a lead and form auto-completion when they click that link.

What does the link look like before and after you send it? You can delete the marketo tracking info in the after sending link when you reply to this.

I replaced the "mkto_tok" parameter with a standard google parameter "utm_medium" and the page generated a 404 error. So I do not think the failure has anything to do with the Marketo appending its tracking code as a query string parameter to the URL.

I think you have a problem with your web page's configuration such that it is not accepting querystring parameters and generating a 404 error.
