Limiting the number of emails that are sent in Marketo

How can I limit the number of emails a lead gets sent each week?

We have a number of campaigns that get sent both globally, and at a regional level (Europe and APAC) and I am worried that we are bombarding our database with too many emails each week.

Is there a way to set the maximum number of emails a specific email address gets sent, e.g. two a week or five a month using filters in a smart list or campaign?

Tulin:

Use the Filter "Was Sent Email" then add a restriction for the maximum number of times you want to a lead to receive emails over a set time.

Hi Tulin,

First, at the Summit this year Marketo said they were coming out with a feature so you could space out emails to certain individuals.

But for now, I would do this by creating a smart campaign so that if a lead was sent an email, make them marketing suspended for a certain amount of time and then after that to change marketing suspended = false (so they get the emails again).
