Limiting number of leads from same company recieving an email

Hi all,

We are concerned about blacklisting as we have lots of leads from the same company. Is there a way to restrict the number of leads from the same company (ie 10) that receive an email at the same time, & then send the next batch the following day? What do you do to avoid getting blacklisted.

Many thanks,
Kate

In general we try to tailor the list and message and not send to an entire company at any time. Of course it depends on what you are trying to accomplish but usually what one group is interested in the others won't be.

We use segments to help us limit things like this. For example we will limit by title or geo location or some other reliable variable.

Even if you have 100 people from a single company if you narrow it down to certain title types it is going to be rare that you are going to get everyone unless they have no title in your system.

Using multiple lists would help also especially if you are going to send on multiple days.

If you are targeting single companies per email send, then you should use the Random Number generator to split the list up and send each group over the period of a few hours or a day using a wait step.

If you're sending to a list that contains more than one company can you still limit? Or can you only do a random sample for the entire list? I want to cut down the number of people per company that are receiving our email, but not a random sample of the entire list. I do not see a constraint that can be applied to the Random Sample filter. Do you know of a way that this can be done?

You would have to identify leads from that Company and space them out.

If you do Random list assignment, it should space out all of the leads for you such that no one company has too many people in each list. It's all about how much work you want to do.

Thanks for your replies, We have a large database with people doing a similar job, ie a company may have 40 developers so they would all be sent the same email, unfortunately our data isn't more granular then that. Any list could have several hundred companies with 30-40 leads per company.

Throttling / Limiting emails to a same company would be a nice feature to add to the ABM product!
