Lead Nurturing / Drip Campaign / Traffic Cop / Gatekeeper - Where are the How To's?

I am trying to create a nurturing campaign and I have seen "traffic cop" and "gatekeeper" and "programs" mentioned as best practices, but I cannot find any resources on how to set these up - just the basic "drip campaign" instructions.
