Is there a way to limit the number of times a lead can be scored for the same email campaign?

We currently have global scoring setup for email campaigns. Leads are given points for opening any email or for clicking on any email. We've recently noticed major problems with this as leads continue to build points each time they visit the site through an email (sometimes 10 times in a day -  and our qualification rules are set to score each time). But the qualification rules aren't very helpful for us. Only once would mean they are scored for the first email they interact with only and scoring once per time interval doesn't stop the over-scoring since we've seen multiple scenarios where the lead clicks on the email throughout the week.Changing it to once a week or longer could mean that we aren't scoring new emails.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this? Would be nice to have a "once per campaign".

You may want to consider using a scoring field to increment +1 to keep track of how many times someone has been scored on a particular thing and then use that as a filter on your smart list. I realize that could end up requiring a lot of extra custom fields, but they do end up being helpful in other situations too.

Another way is to decentralize email click scoring. In each Email Program, add a campaign, which you may have anyway:

Clicks Link in Email IS X

Program Status=Clicked

Score +1Only once.

That will keep it focused on the email itself.
