Importing data to custom object - Group Lists Created

Hi.

When importing data to our custom objects, a group list is created.  I believe that the records are moved from the group list to the custom object and then the group list is emptied. 

1. Can I delete this group list without it affecting the records that were moved to the custom object?

2. If it cannot be deleted, then is there a way that I can move all of the group lists into one folder?

I have looked through the Community for answers to these questions but have come up with nothing.
