and they are somehow entered back into Marketo, say through a conference attendee list, will Marketo realize and honor that the lead unsubscribed before?

I don't want to delete all my unsibscribed leads, but I would like to clean up our database to target customers.

I would keep unsubscribes in your database. You can just keep the Unsubscribed = False filter in all email campaigns so that you get the correct number.

If you don't want them clouding up your CRM (SFDC?) then maybe create a queue and make it hidden.

Durable Unsubscribe was released on 2011. You can delete them if you chose. I typically export them to a master excel list & then delete them.

I prefer to keep the unsubscribes in the database and filter them out as needed. Kim's suggestion is also a good idea. I recently had to deal with a migration from one platfrm to another and I could easily mark all the unsubscribes without much digging.

I wonder why no one paid attention to Adam's comment - it's a perfect solution if you have lots of unsubscribed leads and don't want to pay for them. Adam, BIG thanks!

How do you prevent the unsubcribes from being imported again if they are deleted?  They may be on a conference list that you upload, and then they are receiveing emails again after they unsubscribed.  That is my concern with deleting them.

At the time, when the feature was released it was billed as taking care of this exact problem Toni. Now, that's just a memory in my head and there's not a direct mention of this use case on the page Durable Unsubscribe, But my memory says that this was a use case 3 years ago.

Hi Toni,

I am getting an error when i try to open the "Durable Unsubscribe" page. And I am not able to find it. Will it be possible for you to direct me for further information on it.

Thanks,
Khushboo

Hi Khushboo,

I am getting an error as well.  Marketo must have removed the page.

Thanks,
Toni
