Question

If a lead doesn't qualify for an Engagement Program cast, does it proceed to the next email?

I understand how Engagement Programs work and how, if a lead who is already a member of a program will skip to the next program and receive the email in that program (or if using emails only (and not programs) has received the email for any given cast, they will skip it and be sent the next email in the stream).  But what if we include some additional filters in the smart list of a program within an EP stream that doesn't qualify them to receive the email within a given program?  Will they also skip to the next program and receive that email instead?  Or will they have to wait for the next cast?

If the lead doesn't qualify for the Program's send campaign, then it will not be sent the email or go into that Program's flow.

So they will NOT get that Cast and will continue to next Cast.

Now if you just use emails in the Stream and they already received that email in another program, they will still get that Engagement email because Marketo doesn't understand they already got it outside of the Engagement.

Thanks for confirming, Josh.  But did you mean to say "will continue to receive the next email in that specific cast".  If they simply continue to the next cast, they won't receive anything and have to wait for the next cast (e.g., next week).

It appears that they will have to wait. See Josh's answer here: Program in an Engagement Campaign Does the Eng Prog Skip if the lead doesn't meet the SC rules
