I'm looking for a way to merge "fuzzy" duplicate leads in our database.

Our problem is identifying true duplicate leads (IBM, IBM Inc., IBM Corp, etc.). The first goal is to refresh our database before implementing a front-end de-dupe feature to prevent this from happening in the future.

 Does anyone have any suggestions?

Are you using SFDC? If so, I highly recommend DemandTools for dealing with dupes. It's a tool for SFDC that allows you to build custom rules for merging duplicate Leads and Contacts.

I've used RingLead in the past and did not have good results because they didn't allow you to change the matching criteria for dupes. This may have changed, but wanted to give you a heads up.

You could use one of Marketo's partner solutions like RingLead to address this:
