How to send smart campaign to email not in DB?

Im trying to send a test campaign with 3 emails to an email address not in my database. I used the filter 'Email Address' and copied the email address in but it's saying 0 leads qualified. How can I run this smart campaign without putting this email in my database and having to go through the hassle of creating a lead just to test? Possible?

I know you've mentioned that you sync everything over to SFDC, but if you create a new record in Marketo, unless there's a triggered campaign when a new record is created, then this would reside only in Marketo. I'm ok with having a couple of test leads for myself that only live in Marketo, even though we have the same agreement in our org where everything is synced to SFDC.

So I guess what I'm trying to say above, is that I'd just create them in Marketo so that I had them for testing purposes.

Ok - I didnt want to have to create a lead record but sounds like Marketo forces that and you cant just send to an email address on the fly. Drats!

It's better that way... otherwise, you could be sending emails and Marketo wouldn't have a record of it since there's no associated record in Marketo.

You need to have the record in Marketo in order to send.
