How to run report in RCE on UNIQUE leads (vs. all leads)

We're trying to generate report across a 12 month period to show UNIQUE email sends broken down by functional role (a custom field: IT, marketing, legal, HR, etc.).  I have everything setup properly, but have hit a wall in trying to figure out how to limit this to unique leads - not all leads who have been sent an email.  Is this not possible?

So RCE isn't grouping by LeadID, it is doing by Email Address here? I suppose that's true.

Isn't there a filter to add Email Address here and it would dedupe/group?

Actually it's grouping by Functional Role.  But it's including EVERY send to every email address in those groupings.  What I was hoping for was an option within the "Sent" measure that included UNIQUE emails.  So If I, as a member of the Marketing Functional Role, received 10 emails, I would like to see me represented as "1" vs. "10".

I'm not sure this was ever a feature. Perhaps if you had a # of Sent Emails Score?

Without RCE, I can't play with it. Suspect you need Tableau.
