How to assign and measure costs for a campaign?

I want to create a campaign and assign costs (one time/ if required update on regular basis). Then would like to measure return on my investment. Kindly let me know how can I perform above actions.

NOTE: I noticed that for my campaign, under Setup tab, Costs-Period Costs option is read-only field.

Cost Periods are not read only. That is the best way to add ROI data if you want it directly associated to the Program. If you have RCE, Marketo can then compare Opp Won data to the Period Cost.

otherwise, you can use a spreadsheet or post Cost data to the Actual Cost field in SFDC Campaigns.

Can you post cost data to the the SFDC campaign cost field from Marketo? If so, is there a mass update solution? We recently retroactively applied period costs to marketo programs and need those to sync over to Salesforce.

You can assign cost periods at the Program level in the set up tab.  This data will update your reports as well so you can get cost per new name, member, success etc...
