How do you make Graphs & Charts?

A bit off topic fo Marketo, but I really like this community so I figured I'd ask here first.

In the age of Infographics, I'd like to make better graphs & charts than Excel. I specifically want the file to be a vector based drawing such that it's editable in Illustrator. It doesn't have to be .ai, but .eps or .svg file format possibilities preferred.

Of course AI has a tool for limited graph production, but I'm not so happy with the results. I can merely create an excel graph & paste it into illustrator and retrace it, but this is really time inefficient. I'm looking for something to easily produce nice graphical charts based on data calculations. And I should be able to export the file into an editable vector format.

As far as making HTML graphs on the fly, I'm really happy with Graphix the script I bought at Code Canyon. Once you tweak the CSS to improve the styling it's quite nice. And the animations work in IE7, which is a requirement for my industry. //sIEgh//

SO! Whatcha got!? What are you working with to make those awesome graphics everyone's throwing around these days.

Are you looking for a tool to do internal data analysis with or a tool to create infographics for use in marketing content?

For data analysis, the R language creates some really great charts and graphs.

Nah.. not for internal. For external focus. So infographics. Powerpoint presentations, webinars, sales enablement, product literature. Whatever the need, which is why I want it to create vector graphics.

Last night I found 2 awesome resources on twitter. If you aren't following @NEAUConcepts on twitter you're really missing out.

Here are 25 sets of vector inforgraphics.  http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/infographic-design-kit/

And here's a jQuery plotting script. http://www.flotcharts.org/

I found another resource,  http://piktochart.com

This is a paid resource, but since it builds the infographics in HTML they are fully indexible.
