How do you handle social sharing in emails?

Hey all,

I'm curious, how does everyone handle social sharing within emails? Marketo's social share buttons are nice, but since they use javascript they're only available for use on landing pages as of now.

I'm specifically looking for suggestions of how to include options to share specific blog posts I'll be sending out via email to a subscriber list on Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and Google+.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Allison

For emails, the general practice is to use Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter logos that are linked to their respective share pages.  For e.g, the Marketo blog digest links to facebook URL - https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.marketo.com%2Fblog%2F2013%2F09%2Fgraduating-from-email-service-provider-to-marketing-automation-solution-my-personal-journey.html

Raj,

Thanks for the advice. I've found ways to create these links for Facebook, Twitter and Google+, but I can't seem to find a way to create something that works in an email for a share to Linkedin. All of the share options seem to use javascript, which I can't put in an email.

Am I just missing something?

Thank you!

An alternative is to use images coupled with UTM tracking (2 birds with 1 stone) that takes care of Google Analytics and Marketo tracking if the proper smart campaigns are set up.

Hi Charlie,

Do you know of any resources available in the community or otherwise with more information on this method?

Thank you!
