GTW Attendees Affect "Recent Lead Source"

Hi All,

I'm trying to utilize "Recent lead source" custom field. I've used this helpful discussion for lists imports and form fillouts: https://community.marketo.com/MarketoDiscussionDetail?id=90650000000POsnAAG
The only missing piece is GTW sync that we use - the attendee list is synced from GTW to Marketo, so I have to create a smart campaign PER WEBINAR that checks if "progression status" changed to "Attended" and changes the "recent lead source" into "webinar date xx" (I can use my tokens also)
Is there a better way to manage this?

Itay, we do it similarly except we count the progression status change to "Registered" as the most recent campaign response.

Hi Elliot, don't you capture the attendance as a recent campaign response? there are some cases that someone registered but not attend.

Sorry, I should have said that we also count the progression status change to "Registered" as a most recent campaign response.  We will update that if the progression status changes to "Attended" as well.  Some of our best performing leads register for webcasts, but don't attend.

So when a lead changed to "Attended", you have a smart campaign for each webinar program?

I have multiple triggered smart campaigns for each program to change the progression status to various values.  For example, our webinar program has smart campaigns to change the progression status values to "Invited" (part of the send email smart campaign), "Opened", "Clicked" and "Registered".  Since we are using the GoToMeeting adapter, I don't need a smart campaign to update the progression status to "Attended" and "No Show", since that is done automatically.

Understood. So when a progression status is automatically set to "Attended", do you have a smart campaign that changes "recent campaign" to "Attended Webinar XYZ"? I know I can set this per webinar program, just wondering if there's a way to have a global smart campaign that controls that

Itay, we have a SFDC Campaign ID - Recent field that gets updated in two ways and neither depends on a smart campaign.
  • When someone clicks a link in response to a campaign (download, event registration, etc.) and comes to our website, we have java script that updates the value of a cookie (sfid_r) based on the presence of an sfid_r query string parameter value.  If the person then fills out a form, we read the sfid_r cookie value in to a hidden field for the Campaign ID - Recent.
  • When someone responds in an off-line fashion (e.g. attend tradeshow, content syndiation lead, etc.), we import their info including a value for the SFDC Campaign ID - Recent into the appropriate program.
