Google Analytics: Remove "login" visits? How does Marketo do it?

Not related to Marketo 100% but I am curious if anyone can define steps for us to, in google analytics, filter out those people who (similarly to Marketo.com) - visit our site just to login to our portal. Any suggestions or best practices?

Are you trying to filter out login visits or all people who login? Not exactly the same thing, but could you create a cookie when you login and then use that to not execute the GA Javascript when it is present. That at least solves the latter case.

So the "login" link redirects to a portal without GA tracking script on it. All people who click on this login are to be excluded....it isn't a client portal, it is a portal for managing a part of our business which isn't related to clients.

Basically, if you come to our site and click LOGIN you are ruining my reports ;)

Do you have any details regarding the cookie you mention above?

Just a theoretical approach-

It would be a bunch of custom Javascript.
