GDPR - the Consent to Process fields

The Marketo "GDPR and the Marketer" guide says to create fields to track consent to processing. My question is regarding the "Consent to Processing" Yes/No field. Specifically, what field type is this in Salesforce? Is it a Checkbox? or a Picklist with the values of "yes" and "no"?

I did try it as a Picklist with the values of "yes" and "no", but when I put it on the Marketo form I could not get it to show on the form as a checkbox without the data failing to sync to Salesforce.

I would appreciate any detail anyone can share about this and what fields you are creating to track consent.

Thanks!

Our Consent to Processing field and Consent to Direct Marketing field are both string (picklist) with "Yes" and "No" as possible values—but we don't use Marketo forms so we don't have the same restrictions. You should probably do boolean (checkbox) to get it to show.

The way you store the fields (field type) is distinct to the way the field is represented in the forms (can be a droplist or a checkbox).

It's strongly recommended that the field type in Marketo and in SFDC be the same, otherwise, you will end up with some serious sync issues.
