Form not prefilling for drop down with visibility rule on embedded LP

Ok...

I have a form embedded on a Marketo LP. I'm using the form.vals{} function to prefill the form and it works well except for a few fields.  I have a Country field that's not pre-popping. That field sets visibility rules for State and ZIP. Those fields aren't pre-popping either. Is there something special that needs to be done to prefill fields with viz rules?

When I look at the backend of the page I can see the correct data mapping in the form.vals fields so I can't figure out what else could be wrong.
