fastImport

I had 2 lists to import today.  One was about 75K and the other was about 55K.  Usually they would take around 2 hours minimum to import, even though they just have the one email address column.

They only took a few minutes and when I looked at them, in the subhead name it said: fastImport

I'm really happy about this, but I never saw any announcement about fastImport.  is it really an official improvement or am I dreaming? :)

Why did Marketo keep it a secret?  It's not in the latest "What's New" section and if you search community it comes up blank.

Hey guys,

Glad you liked it, it was something we put a lot of time in it. We were doing a staged roll out, so we didn't want to announce it until everyone had it (they do now). We'll announce it next release.

Erik,

Glad to hear about this upgrade - nice work. I do have one suggestion though - I think there needs to be more robust notification options as some of the shorter list load so fast I can't send myself the notification in time.

Hey Charlie,

If the list is so fast, why do you need the notification? We have the dialog in the top right with the results, do you need other information? I had thought that people only used the notification in order to know when something slow finished.

Hi Erik,

I sometimes need the "existing leads imported" vs. "new leads into the system" info that the confirmation provides.

We buy prospecting lists and some of our vendors give us credit if the lead is already in Marketo.  So I need the notification to tell me how many new leads were imported and how many were already there.  Then I send the email back to the vendor for the credit.

Speaking of notification, I wish it was available on the end of a long campaign.  I sync the prospecting leads over to SFDC and they can take over 24 hours to complete or more.

Interesting. We'll look into it then.

Hi Erik,

Is the auto notification feature being rolled out? I noticed that my coworker has been getting them after import automatically while I still have to manually click on the Send Import Notification.

No, we haven't done it at all yet. Not sure why your co-worker is seeming to get the automatically, but we haven't changed this as far as I know.
