Failing to delete leads in Marketo

When I try to delete contacts in Marketo, I get the following failed message for each contact I try to delete. failed to delete SFDC Contact ID 0037000001LJXFPAA5 (Max Rams): INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_OR_READONLY: insufficient access rights on object id.

I am an administrator, is there another level of access I need? I would like to get our leads down to 500,000, and we have over 800,000.

I'm also looking for advice on how to delete leads with duplicate email addresses.

Thank you!

Hey Sean,

Have you looked to see if the Marketo user in SFDC has the ability to delete contact records in salesforce?

As Caleb mentioned, you would have to look into the Salesforce user permissions to see if the account that is being used to tie Marketo and SFDC together has full admin rights including the ability to delete.

Leads that have duplicate email addresses should be merged to preserve the data.  However, it would be wiser still to see what is causing the duplicate lead to be created in the first place.

Hey Sean,

INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_OR_READONLY indicates that a user has insufficient privileges for a particular record typ in SFDC.  You should check with your SFDC admin that the Marketo sync user has access to the record type of these particular records.

Thanks for all the great respones.

A follow-up question, When I look up the users & roles, is there a field where it will tell me which user is the SFDC admin? The only roles or combination of roles I view are Admin, Marketing User, Standard Users, Web Designer, Analytics Users.

Thanks!

Start with Admin - the Role is usually System Administrator.
