Exclude leads without email address from sync

Hi,

is it possible to exclude leads in SFDC without email address from sync to Marketo? My aim is to keep only leads in Marketo with an email address.

Hi Katrin,

Please file a ticket with Support.  We will set up a sync filter for you to do this.

Hi Katrin,

Yes it is. Just ask support to set up a filter on the field on the lead and contact objects

You may want to go one step further to protect the future and:

  • create a checkbox field in SFDC on leads and contacts. Name it "sync with SFDC". Default value is checked
  • Create some workflows in SFDC for lead and contacts that keep the field checked when the email is not empty and uncheck it when the email is empty
  • update the whole DB in SFDC with a data loader to activate the workflows
  • Let your SFDC leads and contacts resync with Marketo (Important)
  • Ask support to filter on this "Sync with SFDC" field
  • Delete from Marketo all the leads with "Sync with Mkto = False"

The second method has the big advantage to be evolutive: if you want to change the rules in the future, just change the workflows.
