exclude a record from a smartlist

I'm a new user and have set up a campaign with a static list and am also doing a smart list. A few names on the smart list shouldn't be included (must be miscoded).  How do I exclude them from my smart list? 

I appreciate any help you wise Marketo experts can provide!

I would probably just add a filter within the smart list that says "email address is not" and then list their emails to exclude the few people that shouldn't be added. Or go back and change the users data so it doesn't fall within the criteria.
