Embedding Marketo forms on Wordpress

Hello, apparently you lose auto filling of forms when you embed marketo forms on wordpress, correct? What plugins or connectors do people use to embed forms on wordpress but still keep the auto fill or prefill functionality?

Thanks

Hi Nick,

This is a Marketo default behavior that you loose the prefill capabilities when you embed a Marketo form on ANY CMS or web page outside of Marketo Landing Pages.

There are some workaround for this but be careful, some will lead you to incorporate your Marketo REST API key on the front end of your site, create a serious security breach on your data.

I know that @Sanford Whiteman has some secure solutions for this, though.

@Sanford Whiteman can you please let me know what secure solutions you provide?

Hi Nick,

We are using Grazitti Interactive, and their Marketo Wordpress plugin gives us pre-fill functionality for our forms, as well as other personalization tools for our Wordpress site. Their email is info@grazitti.com. We've been using it for close to a year now, so let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you! Did you happen to check out those other ones like Hoosh or Zaper? What made you go with Grazitti?

We looked at a few options, but Grazitti was cost-effective and easy to work with, and we have several other pieces of their integration active on our site.

In addition to form-fill, we've been able to do real-time personalization on our blog for content, images and ads. The plugin also links the blog to Marketo in a way that lets us send a digest email from our own templates just by clicking the articles we want included... so in essentially three clicks I have a perfectly created digest email out the door. Their support has also been great, which has been very helpful.

Hey Nick,

I work for HyperX Media and we are a Marketo LaunchPoint Partner. We have actually created a WordPress plugin that does exactly what you are looking for. You can get it here: Marketo Forms Wordpress Plugin - Free | HyperX Media

On a side note, we also just launched a Chrome Extension that allows you to clear your cookies easily when testing forms. You can grab that here: Clear Marketo Cookies - Chrome Browser Plugin | - HyperX Media

I hope these help!

Sorry - not meant to be an advertisement but mostly just to be helpful. We don't charge for these tools.

I use wordpress with embedded forms. we, too, wanted to pre-fill the forms and ran through this exact same scenario a few years ago. Basically we ended up taking the route of 'known visitor' to bypass all form fields -- thus sacrificing any progressive profiling we want to do, but opted for the better CX than data. It's an easy dropdown option to activate and ultimately just gives the end user a button to push (less intimidating).

Hi JD,

We are also looking to do the "known visitor" experience on our embedded Marketo landing pages. Did you actually embed this experience? Or did you use this on Marketo landing pages?

@Sanford Whiteman our web developer and I have been reviewing this approach: Form Pre-Fill. External sites. No limits. You're welcome. Does the "known visitor" approach work with this type of prefill?

KV doesn't even need Pre-Fill.

There are certified plugins that do this on Launchpoint, just search for 'Wordpress'. Just make sure you look for solutions with reference customers with high volume, that will help you filter out the low quality ones.

It seems like Grazitti and Hoosh are the two main players here who do form prefill, blog integration and some other stuff with Wordpress. Does anyone have any recommendations on which is better? or does anyone have any experience with these? Hoosh seems to be way more expensive though

I've only used Grazitti, I don't have experience with Hoosh so I cannot speak to their capabilities or pricing.

Yea, I am probably going to go with them. Thanks for your help!

February 16, 2018

One option that I've done before is to just add the Marketo form to the Wordpress page via an iframe. It's not an ideal solution, but it allows you to still leverage the prefill functionality without any of the security concerns.

Hmmm. I read that is not a good idea. Ugh, why is Marketo such a pain with this stuff. Thanks for your help though!

I posted a similar response in this thread: Prefill forms on external pages help

And @Sanford Whiteman seemed to agree that it was a reasonable solution that is more secure.
