Email: When making updates to HTML it automatically updates the Text version

Whenever we update the HTML of an email the text version is automatically changed to match.  We've tried editting the text version but it reverts back to match the HTML.

Is there a setting or way in which I can prevent this from happening?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Aimee,

You should be able to make changes to the text version on its own. In the edit view you have the option to Copy from HTML but you can also edit the text in that box too. (see window below) Also - there was a thread that looks like it addressed a similar issue: http://community.marketo.com/MarketoDiscussionDetail?id=90650000000PMwrAAG

Hi Aimee,

You should be able to make edits to your text, or just use the copy from HTML.  If you're not able to, then there's definitely a bug.  This happened to me a couple of months ago with my emails and snippets.  So I'd reach out to support.

Thank you for your replies!

We are able to "copy from HTML" and/or add our own text version.  However, when we update the HTML, it automatically changes the text version to what it would look like if you clicked "copy from HTML", eliminating our edits.

Is this what happened to you Michelle?

Aimee, it sounds like you might be experiencing a bug. Probably best to call Marketo Support.

Hi Aimme,

Nope that's not what happened to me.  If you mean update the HTML by replacing your HTML content, it will automatically change the text version.  But if that's not what you're doing, I say contact support.
