Email Report for Continuous Campaigns and Resends

I have several smart campaigns set up to run monthly and one-time sends that do a send, wait, resend. The email reports only reflect the FIRST send, NOT the resends. Does anyone know if there is a way to get one of the reports to accurately show the number of true sends?

So you’re saying that you send email A to person A twice? Yes, then the Email Performance Report doesn’t report on emails sent, but actually it reports on people being sent that email.

In my opinion, sending the same email twice to a person is not a good practice - and in other MAPs it’s actually not possible. I think you should invest the effort to make the content of that second email - the resend - different, which of course means sending a different email. Which also solves your reporting issue.

The reason being, we’re trying to encourage customers to adopt more features to get more from their accounts. So, every quarter they’ll get some kind of email promoting a product or service with us.

For single sends, I do agree, I should create a separate email for the resends with a different subject line at the very least.

@bjohnson-5, I agree with Michael -- you should send different emails and/or use different campaigns instead of sending the same email from a single campaign spaced with Wait steps. For clarity, multiple sends from the same campaign to the same person are counted only once in an Email Performance Report. If you want to report on multiple sends of a single email from the same campaign, the report would need to be built outside Marketo, e.g., by downloading email send/engagement activity logs via the API.

@bjohnson-5 -

Try pulling the Email Performance Report based on the appropriate Date of Activity range.

If you're sending the same email asset multiple times (for example, monthly or quarterly), make sure to run the report using a monthly or quarterly date range that aligns with your send schedule.

Since the Email Performance Report is time-based, adjusting the reporting period should help you see the accurate number of sends for each execution of the email.
