I've never heard anything about it going free (this would be unlikely given that Marketo does not run their own CA and so does need to pay for your cert every 2 years). It is now a lot more affordable than before.

    Hi John,

    Marketo a recently made the HTTPS much easier, but nit free. In their new HTTPS (Setting Up Secured Domains for Landing Pages ) you have to pay a yearly fee and they take care of everything, including the provision and renewal of certificates.
