Easiest Way to Add New Email to Streams Without Sending Duplicate Content

We have a nurture stream that needs to have some of the content revised and updated.   However, I'm concerned that if we add updated emails to the streams, users will see this content again because Marketo will see these emails as new content in the streams.

Is there an easy way to add updated content to a stream without sending it to users who are downstream?

Hi Travis,

Marketo identifies the emails in a stream by a unique Marketo ID and manges the prevention of delivering the same email based on this ID. Therefore, if you update an existing email with new content, users who have already received that email will not receive the email again even though you update the content of that email.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks, Reade.  Yes, this is helpful.  Going forward I will make sure to revise the emails themselves.  But  what if we have created the updated emails as new emails, as we have done in this case -- is there a way to copy the Marketo IDs from the existing emails to the new emails and delete the old emails?

Travis,

If you use a program instead of an email on the stream, you have more control over who should receive the email again or not receive it.  If you created a new email, you could add any lead to the membership of the program who clicked the link in the old email.  When the system evaluates this program in the stream, it will look at the membership to determine if htey should receive it again or not.

Thanks,
Cheryl

Thanks all. One more question on this.  When using a program in the stream, what should the smart campaign schedule be?  Currently it's set as recurring, but I don't think that would be correct considering the cadence setting in the stream.

When you select a program/smart campaign in a stream, it will ignore the schedule.
