Duplicates

Hi
   We're getting ready to install Marketo and set our Sync up but I know we have duplicates in the system.
Duplicate lead to lead and duplicates across objects lead to contact. How does Marketo cope with that on the Sync? Does it just flagg them to be dealt with as I've found in the Help section or does it just fall over?

Nope. Marketo doesn't dedupe on records from SFDC or on the initial sync.
 

Please try to do this before syncing using a tool like DemandTools or RingLead.

I second Josh Hill​ as well, a tool like Ringlead will save you a ton of time for a very reasonable price. And you can rest easy knowing you've finally slayed your historical dupe Minotaur.

I agree with Josh - to answer your question, the sync will not fail, you will just end up up in a duplicate mess.

if the amount of duplicates is manageable, marketo has the system smartlist where you can identify and merge duplicates.

Absolutely agreed with the previous comments. You should make every effort to solve the duplicates before the initial sync. A few hours of work before the sync will save you many hours of work later.
