Does the import leads API support custom object updates as well ?

Wanted to know if either SOAP or REST bulk APIs support updating custom objects. I am aware that there is no support to update custom objects through REST. But, is it the same with bulk import (Import Leads API)  as well ? Does SOAP support bulk import and update of custom objects ? Please let me know.

Updating custom objects can currently only be done via the syncCustomObjects SOAP call. If you have a large initial load (for example more than 5-10 million records) our support team can load this in the back-end (one-time upload).
