do leads with no email address count toward database limit

I recently reviewed this with my rep and I would love to hear what others have heard.  My understanding is that all records count towards your database limit.

We just renewed ours and it's all known leads in our Marketo database, just as Jeff mentioned above.

With any database non-required fields will not exclude the entire entry with a simple query. If you leave a non-required field empty the fields needed to generate the lead will still create an entry and ID for the lead so it will count towards the total number of leads allowed.

It would need to filter the emails specifically for the count, but since it is for the entire list email or not it will count. hope that explains it clearer.

We are going through the renewal process currently and I'm being told that the known leads and anonymous leads count towards your entire database, contray to what Michelle and Jeff stated. Can someone clarify the leads that count torwards the database limit?

Anonymous leads should not count towards database size.  There might be some miscommunication here, I'll reach out to your Account Manager.

so when we renewed just recently we were told anonymous NOT counted but known without email were counted. so we had to purge all the ones without email from Marketo and just have them in SFDC
