Do inactive Contact records get loaded into Marketo?

We are preparing to sync our MS Dynamics CRM with our Marketo instance.  As part of that, we are "cleaning up" our Contact records and trying to decide if we should just deactivate them or actually delete them.

During the initial CRM/Marketo sync, do inactive Contact records get loaded into Marketo?

Deactivate the leads, as only active leads will sync down. If at a later time you do want them , activating them will add them in.
