Question

Do I need to clone the same static list for every new program (if uses same lists)?

I organize programs per quarter. For example, for press release programs organized quarterly, I have the emails, lists, reports, and campaigns structured under the program for that quarter. For every new quarter, I create a new program and clone the assets (with the exception of the new emails). This is done quarterly for reporting and program organization.

Question: Is it best practice to copy the static lists for every new program so the lists are local to the program? Or, can I just reference the static lists from the previous quarter program when I send the emails?

Hi Leanne,

There is no good and bad here: is depends on what you want to achieve. One, global static list will give you the population since the beginning, unless you empty the lists. Statics lists in your quarterly programs will have to be populated each quarter.

Anytime we need to continuously refer to static lists across multiple programs, we create that list in Lead Database vs. local to the program.  Either approach will work - it's just easier when they're all located in a central location.

That is what I was thinking Dan - easier to have these particular static lists in one central location (lead database) rather than copy them to each local program every quarter. Thanks!
