Custom Unsubscribe Page/Form, how to get Marketo to recognize it?

Our Setup:

  • We have a HTML page on our site which we use for Unsubscribes.  It has a Marketo Form on it to handle the data.  The form allows users to opt out of various parts of our marketing materials, so not just a single global unsubscribe.
  • Our emails which we send through Marketo have an unsubscribe link at the bottom which we added (not the special Marketo Unsubscribe Link).
    • <p>This email was sent to {{lead.Email Address}}. If you no longer wish to receive these emails you may <a href="http://www.principalfunds.com/investor/test/unsubscribe/unsubscribe.htm" style="color: #223B7B;">unsubscribe</a> at any time.</p>

How do I make Marketo recognize our existing link on our emails as the systems unsubscribe link?
We do not want Marketo to put people on its global unsubscribe list, that is handled by our Marketo Form and other back end systems.  We want it to not track clicks, and we want it to otherwise by the system's official, unoffical unsubscribe form.

Thank you for your time and assistance,

Jesse

Just change the Admin > Email code to match your footer.

Honestly, it's better to put your link in the email template or footer as a snippet and then remove the global one.

You can add the mktNoTrack to that link, but why bother? You can exclude this link in any triggers or reports.

@Jesse B If Admin > Email (which @Josh also referenced) doesn't pertain to your question then you need to phrase it a different way.  What do you mean by "recognize" if not "include my link instead of the default one"?
