Custom Objects usage as Tokens in Emails and other content.

Hi All,

We were just exploring Marketo's Custom Object's features in Marketo. So, I went ahead and published a custom object with a link field (dedupe feature -Yes) and an integer field.

I was wondering if I could access this object as a token in my email body Or better, if possible, how can I access this custom object's fields in any of my marketing programs.

It would be great if you guys could help me out with this.

Hi Prabash,

Custom objects are accessible in various ways :

  • As filters and triggers (you will have 3 filters and 1 trigger) and all their field will be available as constraints. Some triggers are not available yet (see here )
  • in email velocity scripts. This will enable you to use custom object data in an email within a program. It's not available anywhere else, unfortunately. See here : Email Scripting » Marketo Developers

Expanding on Greg here; Email Scripting ONLY works in emails as it's the last step before rendering the email and sending it out. You can't use these anywhere else in the instance.
