Custom messages using Forward To A Friend function

When using the Forward To A Friend feature, is there a way to add a custom message to the recipient? And a from field? While testing out this feature I noticed that when I receive a forwarded email, I just get it blindly without any context. It would be nice to have some kind of intro on the forwarded email explaining why the recipient is receiving this email and who is sending it to them. Something like:

Monica Wright (email address) thought you might be interested in checking out (newsletter) by (Company) Interested in signing up? (with a link to sign up page)

Can we do that?

Unfortunately the Forward to a Friend function isn't very customizable. That would be a good idea to post :)

    Thanks Michelle, it's too bad that this feature acan't be more customized. As a result of the awkward user experience, we've chosen not to implement it. We just can't risk having emails being forwarded without any context of why the recipient is receiving it, or where they are coming from. Fingers crossed that this update happens soon.
