We are looking to create a newsletter which will run once a week, and will have content automatically created in the email from a page on our site based on our subscribers preferences. For example we may have up to 7 different categories, and subscribers may be signed up to receive 1 or all 7 of them. We are new to marketo and looking for any ideas of how this may be accomplished.

There have been several questions in this topic. Unfortunately it can't be done with Marketo at this time.... Sorry

What about utilizing webhooks to grab content from a page and then add that information into our newsletter?

A feasible approach could have been creating tokens for different content sections in the mailer and every time the smart campaign runs, the tokens display the content on the basis of user preferences. However, the blocker is that token values can not be updated using SOAP API or Webhooks, They need to be updated manually.
Since, you are running the email once a week, someone will have to spend 2-3 hours on manually updating the content in Tokens and then run the campaign.

If the site with the content is a marketo page...... You could create the content in a snippet. On the page you'd just load the snippet, like you would in the email. Saves you some time.

Thanks for this discussion, we're looking to do the same thing and were going to move forward with using tokens. Does anyone know if the newly released "real time personalization" tool can help with this?
